Installing Solar PV Tiles and Slates
Should you require a re-roof at your home, Planet Solars’ team of experienced roofers would be happy to provide you with a quotation to carry out the work, however if you prefer to use your own builders we can work alongside them when installing the Solar PV system.
The method of installation is a very simple process. All we need are the sizes of your roof space and we calculate how many PV Tiles/Slates we could install.
The Installation Process
In the case of a re-roof project, the first stage is to remove the roof tiles from the area required.
We will then replace the roof batons if they are not suitably spaced, or if they have started to rot.
The Solar PV Tile/Slate is then hooked onto the roof baton and secured with four screws. Each Tile/Slate is then connected to the next one with one cable that joins them all together in a string. The main cable is then dropped through into your roof space and connected to the inverter as with a regular solar panel installation.
When installing the Solar PV Tiles the formation is staggered as you would expect normal roof tiles to appear, and the tiles interlock with a minimum of two rows of normal roof tiles around the edge of the array. The PV tiles are only compatible with a limited number of normal roof tiles and therefore we would advise that you take this into consideration before committing to purchase any new tiles.
The Solar PV Slates however, are arranged in a straight block, one underneath the other and require a flashing kit around the edge of the array, so the installation process is slightly different.
