Your solar electrical system is connected to the utility grid through your existing consumer unit and electricity meter.
By 2014 your electricity supplier may also have installed an additional meter called a Smart Meter or Export meter which will accurately record the amount of excess electricity that you are sending back to the grid when energy production exceeds usage. Until the electricity providers install Smart meters across the UK, they will assume that 50% of the electricity you generate from your PV system will be exported to the grid and will base the export payment of 3 pence per unit on this assumption, until it can be measured accuratley.
Planet Solar provide a stylish wireless personal display with your installation which can be placed in your lounge or anywhere that you choose. This features push button controls and communicates with your inverter to show current and cumulative electricity generation from your solar installation (in both kW and £) as well as how much CO2 you have saved.
