2011 was an unprecedented year for Planet Solar. The demand for solar technology amongst UK homeowners was stronger than ever before with a record number of installations being completed up and down the country. Despite an adjustment to the feed-in-tariff late last year, we have already been inundated with requests from householders looking to follow suit.

Solar PV has proven to be the most popular form of renewable energy and it isn’t difficult to see why. Solar panels are easy-to install, reliable, environmentally-friendly, promise longevity and can help you save a huge amount on your energy bills. They also give you the opportunity to earn money back on energy as you can sell surplus electricity back to the grid.

Placed on the roof of your home with no detrimental effect on the overall appearance of your home, photovoltaic systems will supply your home with the vast majority of electricity it needs during the day simply by harnessing the natural light of the sun.

As a result of this, dependence on your standard electricity supply will decrease sharply and help us as a nation preserve essential fossil fuels. With energy prices at an all-time high …

SAP consultation for Solar launched by DECC

Jan

Solar PV Panels

Solar PV installers such as Planet Solar use SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) to estimate output figures for Solar PV systems prior to them being installed. SAP is a government rating system and is a requirement of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) for Solar Panel installers.

SAP calculations are designed to provide a realistic estimate of generation figures and to ensure customers are not misled on their potential generation figures. As the UK renewables market continues to grow, the government, along with many Solar PV installers, are continuously trying to improve their tools, and SAP calculations could be the next area to be improved.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) have begun a consultation on SAP to propose some changes to the procedure which will make the process more accurate. These proposed changes have been on the cards for a while, with DECC speakers at Installer Live 2011 informing visitors of the review.

The main areas which relate directly to Solar Photovoltaics are CO² emission calculations, alternative roof pitches and regional weather differences. The official document of proposed changes to the SAP can be found on the DECC website. We will be …

Join The Growing Demand For Solar Technology

Jan

If 2011 is anything to go by there will be increasing numbers of UK homeowners looking to invest in renewable technology. The rising cost of conventional energy will be one of the major driving forces behind this move for some, whilst others will take such a measure in a quest to reduce carbon emissions and make our country a more environmentally-friendly place to live.

There are several forms of renewable energy available to householders which will each supply them with cleaner, greener and more affordable electricity, but the overriding favourite is solar power systems. Solar panels can provide homes with the large majority of electricity they need throughout the day at a far less expensive rate than most users of traditional energy will be paying.

There will be some who approach their local solar panel installers and are immediately put off by the cost involved with installation. But when you consider that they need very little maintenance, have a lifespan of up to 50 years in many cases and can save you enormous amounts on energy during that time, you soon begin to realise that they are the most …

Start As You Mean To Go On In 2012 With Solar Panels

Jan

With 2011  now at a close many people will be reflecting back on the year with mixed thoughts. The newsrooms have been busy with information on the economic downturn, riots and strikes not to mention all the upset that has been caused by increases in energy bills, forcing many into fuel poverty. Even if you haven’t been directly affected by any of the budget cuts and price increases you will surely have made measures to rein in any spending and save money where you can.

Solar panels may seem like a costly investment when many are trying to decrease their spending but they represent one of the best investments that you can make. Once installed, they will usually work effectively for up to 20 years. The cost of them will seem minimal when you compare it to the costs involved in receiving your electricity from a traditional supplier.

Attached to your roof, solar panels are able to harvest energy from the sun which can then be used to power your home with electricity helping to reduce your energy bills. Another added advantage of investing in solar panels is that a payment is made for every kilowatt hour of electricity generated, …

Renewable energy sources have been around for years, and using Solar PV to generate electricity is no new method. Although still behind much of the European market, the UK Solar PV market is continuing to grow and as a nation we are becoming more aware of environmental issues and of course rising energy prices.

Solar Panels

With a Solar PV system from Planet Solar you can generate a source of free electricity to contribute towards your electricity consumption and help reduce electricity costs. In addition to this, it also counts towards lowering your carbon footprint and becoming more self-sufficient, something which is of high importance to many UK residents.

Doing your ‘bit’ for the environment along with reducing energy costs are both great reasons to install a Solar PV system, however the benefits do not stop here. In addition to this, a generation payment is also made for every kilowatt hour of electricity generated by your solar PV system, plus an export payment. These are guaranteed for 25 years from the date of commissioning.

With more and more people deciding to invest in solar panels, 2012 is set to be a big year for renewable energy. It allows many people to make considerable savings on their electricity bills and solar panels can also provide an extra income source for businesses throughout the UK.

There are various options available for those looking into renewable energy sources such as wind turbines and hydroelectricity but solar photovoltaic panels are the most appropriate for many as they can be attached to any building with very little fuss or effort. This is particularly important for small business owners who may have a lot of building space such as farmers and warehouse managers as solar panels provide the ideal option in terms of renewable energy.

The amount you can save and earn from your panels depends on how many you have and how much electricity you currently use. Any electricity fed back to the grid also generates an export payment, offering an additional income for households and business owners. That being said you don’t need to have a massive building to take advantage of solar electricity. Solar panels can be fitted …

We are all being encouraged to go ‘green’ particularly when it comes to the functioning and running of our properties. This means investing in some form of renewable energy, however many people are still unaware of the major benefits associated with technology such as solar panels. Planet Solar is here to enlighten you that little bit more:

Feed-In-Tariff

Anybody who installs solar panels on the roof on their home will be rewarded courtesy of the Feed-In-Tariff. The Feed-In-Tariff was introduced by the government to encourage more people to embrace renewable energy and gives you a payment for all the electricity you produce.

Save on energy bills

The cost of traditional energy has risen incredibly over the past few years and will continue to do so in the future as fossil fuels become more and more sparse. Photovoltaic systems will enable you to use conventional energy less often as they will provide you with the majority of energy you need throughout the day.

Added value

Because of the rapid growth of solar PV many home buyers are expecting to see green measures already in place before considering making an offer. The addition …

As you will have no doubt heard the Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change Greg Barker has announced that the feed-in-tariff (FIT) will be cut on December 12th rather than from April of next year as originally proposed.

This course of action will have a dramatic financial impact upon many companies within the industry and will put many jobs at risk, but Planet Solar has the experience and knowledge to stay the course.

As part of Energi Installations, Planet Solar has been supplying and installing solar PV to homes across the UK since 2006 and has therefore built up a huge client base over the past five years. Our photovoltaic systems are of the very highest quality and have a proven track record when it comes to cutting the cost of energy bills.

We have undertaken hundreds of small and large-scale projects so are well-equipped to deal with most requests for solar panels from property owners.

Despite the reduction in FIT, anyone who puts their money and faith into solar technology will be rewarded as they will receive 21 pence per kilowatt as produced from solar panelling. The payments …

With many households concerned about rising bills, it is important for homeowners to prepare as best they can and put money-saving methods in place. Electricity prices in particular have received a lot of media coverage, with suggestions that electricity prices are set to rise by up to 16% within the next year.

One way of combatting such large increases is to generate your own electricity, which is where Planet Solar can help. We all know that electrciity is a necessity for most of us, and whilst reducing our usage is one way to tackle rising prices, it is unlikely to be enough on its own.

Solar panels work by converting direct sunlight into DC power. An Inverter is then used to convert this DC power into AC power, which can then be used to power electrical appliances and lights within your home. By providing a free source of electricity during the daytime, significant savings can be made on electricty bills. When electricity is needed at night when the solar panels are not producing, you simply use the electricity supplied by your provider.
