2011 Sees Global Demand For Renewable Energy Hit Record Level
Reuters have reported that global renewable deals grew by 40% in 2011 hitting an all-time high of $53.3 billion compared to $38.2 billion in 2010. This takes into account all wind, solar, biomass, energy efficiency and hydropower deals.
Solar deals alone accounted for a third of all deals. Overall, solar deals totalled $15.8 billion in 2011 compared to $10.2 billion in 2010, a 56% rise. It isn’t difficult to understand why this is the case as the cost of producing solar panels has dropped sharply in recent years and as a result has made them an affordable option for businesses and homeowners worldwide.
Factor in the rising cost of traditional electricity and it makes solar PV a deeply attractive proposition to those desperate to make savings on their monthly bills. Instead of solely relying on the electricity your energy supplier provides, a set of photovoltaic systems will harvest the free energy of the sun and convert it into useable electricity.
When installed on an un-shaded area of your roof and in direct contact with the sun a set of solar panels will supply your entire home with the vast majority of electricity it needs to function throughout the day.
Some people in the UK may be put off the idea of having solar installed due to the unpredictable nature of our weather, but solar power systems can function successfully even in the most overcast of conditions.
For each kilowatt of energy your panels produce you will earn. When you consider that the average lifespan of each solar panel is a minimum of 30 years you will soon come to understand the financial rewards to be gained from them.
Of course you need a highly-qualified renewable energy company to perform the installation. Planet Solar have dealt with thousands of installation over the past seven years and would be delighted to provide you with a FREE site survey.
